Chemistry
In Ten God terms, Water is Indirect Wealth (편재) if you share polarity and Direct Wealth (정재) if you do not. Wealth is what you manage, enjoy and protect. Water partners are intuitive and adaptable, and they bring emotional depth into your steady world. The heavenly combination here is Mu with Gye (戊癸合): a mountain and the rain on its slopes, a famously magnetic pair. Gi with Im is the other partner-star pairing, a field irrigated by a river. The Qiong Tong Bao Jian even recommends 戊 Earth as the embankment strong Im Water needs.
Friction
Mu with Im is the strong-willed version, a mountain trying to hold back an ocean, with constant pressure on the walls. Gi with Gye is a field and a drizzle, gentle, but prone to mud and worry. You may try to control your Water partner's moods, schedule or spending; they may feel trapped and slip away. Water also changes direction more easily than Earth, which can look flaky to someone who values consistency.
